IEBC starts distributing ballot materials for by-elections

Kenya's Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) has begun distributing election materials from Nairobi to various by-election sites. The materials are expected to arrive on time to allow sufficient preparations before November 27, 2025. The commission assures transparency and adherence to guidelines throughout the process.

Kenya's Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) has started distributing election materials from its main warehouse in Nairobi to polling stations across various by-election areas. These by-elections are scheduled for November 27, 2025, with all materials ensured to arrive on time for adequate preparations.

IEBC Commissioner Hassan Noor Hassan spoke at the launch event of the distribution, stating that the commission received 39 boxes of ballot papers for 22 electoral areas. The papers have been inspected and verified according to official transport documents from the printer. The first consignment was sent to the Fafi parliamentary constituency in Garissa County, one of the most remote locations.

Mr. Noor assured Kenyans that the IEBC is fully prepared, with ongoing training for election officials. Security personnel have received sufficient instructions, and each consignment will be escorted by senior security officers from the warehouse to the respective sites. “Since they arrived, the ballot papers have been under 24-hour security. IEBC is completely ready. We want to assure Kenyans that we are prepared for the by-elections,” the commissioner added.

The commission also emphasizes transparency and adherence to election guidelines throughout the entire process, aiming for a fair and peaceful vote.
