Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi agreed on Thursday to strengthen cooperation on critical minerals and semiconductors during talks in New Delhi.
The two leaders said they would work to improve supply chain resilience in strategic sectors including semiconductors, quantum technologies and critical minerals. They expressed grave concerns over arbitrary export restrictions that could disrupt supply chains.
Modi and Takaichi also discussed energy procurement and maritime security. Japanese and Indian businesses concluded investment deals worth $12.3 billion during the visit.
Trade between the two countries in 2025–26 reached $27 billion. Tokyo is supporting India's high-speed railway and urban infrastructure projects.
