India confirms unchanged XI for T20 World Cup 2026 semi-final vs England at Wankhede amid dew factor

India and England meet in the second semi-final of the 2026 T20 World Cup at Mumbai's Wankhede Stadium, starting 7:00 PM IST, after New Zealand beat South Africa. Building on pre-match preparations, India will field an unchanged XI, with dew expected to influence a high-scoring contest. This is their third straight semi-final clash.

India will field the same playing XI that defeated West Indies in Kolkata on Sunday for their T20 World Cup semi-final against England at Wankhede Stadium, as confirmed by team management following pitch inspections on Tuesday and Wednesday.

Dew emerged as a key factor during England's Wednesday evening practice under hot, humid Mumbai conditions, making the toss pivotal. India's bowling coach Morne Morkel highlighted the uncertainty: "We’re not quite sure a day out how the wicket is going to play. It’s a lot hotter all of a sudden in India, so in terms of moisture and allowing the wicket not to dry out, I think it’s going to be key to playing well."

He anticipates a strong batting surface: "I expect it to be a good wicket, high-scoring game. We are preparing ourselves for tough conditions... If we go in with a mindset that it is going to be a high-scoring game and we need to be up to the standard, I’d say that’s a good place to be."

England won their 2022 semi-final encounter, but India triumphed in 2024. The winner advances to face New Zealand in the final.

Broadcast: Star Sports Network (TV), Jio Hotstar (streaming). Toss at 6:30 PM IST.
