Iowa woman accused of lacing lasagna to cause miscarriage

A 36-year-old Iowa woman faces felony charges after allegedly delivering a drug-laced tray of lasagna to a pregnant relative's family with the intent to induce a miscarriage. Authorities confirmed the presence of oxycodone in the food following an investigation. The suspect shares custody of a child with a family member connected to the victim.

Amber Dena Snow was arrested this week in Winneshiek County, Iowa, and charged with multiple felonies related to the incident. Court records indicate she faces two counts each of administering harmful substances to an adult and to a juvenile, plus one count each of attempted nonconsensual termination of a pregnancy and controlled substance violation. Additionally, she is charged with one count of child endangerment, an aggravated misdemeanor.

The scheme came to light in early January when deputies responded to a report about a family-size pan of lasagna allegedly laced with a controlled substance. The food had been delivered on December 28, 2025, to the family of a pregnant woman. An investigation, involving the Winneshiek County Sheriff's Office, Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation, Decorah Police Department, and the county attorney's office, uncovered electronic communications and search history on the defendants' devices that revealed the intent.

"The investigation identified electronic communications and search history on the defendants' accounts and phones from before and after the lasagna was prepared and delivered to another family on Dec. 28, 2025," the sheriff's office stated in a news release. "During the investigation, it was determined that delivery of the tainted lasagna was intended to cause a miscarriage to a pregnancy of a woman in the family that received the lasagna."

Testing at the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation Criminalistics Laboratory confirmed oxycodone in the lasagna. The pregnant victim had no knowledge of the substance and did not consent to it. Snow allegedly acted with an unnamed co-conspirator, who has not been charged.

Snow shares custody of her juvenile child with an individual related to the pregnant victim. The child was reportedly aware of the plan and opposed it. Snow is held at Winneshiek County Jail on a $100,000 cash-only bond and is scheduled for a preliminary hearing on March 23.
