Iranian exiles hold protest against Iranian dictatorship

Iranian exiles gathered at Gustav Adolfs Torg in Malmö to protest against the regime in Iran. They called for an end to executions and a transition to democracy.

On Saturday afternoon the Iranian Cultural Association in Malmö organized a protest. Participants carried banners with messages such as ”Stoppa avrättningarna i Iran” and ”Iranska ambassaden – terrorcentralen”.

Morteza Sadeghi from the association stressed that the group opposes war. ”We do not want war. We want a democratic Iran”, he said.

Shahin Ehsani expressed doubt that either war or peace agreements would improve the situation. ”It is only the people in Iran who can overthrow the regime”, he said.

The demonstrators displayed portraits of people killed by the regime since the January uprising.
