ITV announces cast for thriller series Gone

ITV has revealed the main cast for Gone, a new six-part psychological thriller series written by George Kay of Hijack fame. The drama stars David Morrissey as a school headmaster suspected in his wife's disappearance and Eve Myles as the detective investigating him. Directed by Richard Laxton, the series draws inspiration from real-life crime research and will air on ITV and ITVX.

Overview

Gone is a gripping psychological drama set against the backdrop of a prestigious private school, a foreboding forest, and the quiet areas of Bristol. The story centers on Headmaster Michael Polly, an upstanding community member who faces scrutiny after his wife Sarah vanishes. As Detective Annie Cassidy delves into the case, a tense game of cat and mouse unfolds, questioning whether Polly could be involved in something sinister.

Cast and Crew

Leading the ensemble is David Morrissey as Michael Polly, with Eve Myles portraying the intuitive Detective Annie Cassidy. Emma Appleton plays their daughter Alana, a teacher at the school. Additional cast includes Jennifer Macbeth, Arthur Hughes, Nicholas Nunn, Elliot Cowan, Billy Barrett, Rupert Evans, Jodie McNee, Oscar Batterham, and Clare Higgins.

The series is penned by George Kay, known for Hijack, and directed by Richard Laxton, who previously helmed Joan. It is produced by New Pictures and partly inspired by the book To Hunt a Killer by Julie Mackay and Robert Murphy, both serving as consultants.

Key Quotes

Eve Myles expressed enthusiasm: "I'm thrilled to be playing Detective Annie Cassidy in George Kay's brilliantly written drama Gone. Annie is a fascinating character, intuitive, gutsy and doesn't suffer fools."

David Morrissey added: "I’m delighted to be reunited with George Kay and the wonderful team at New Pictures. And to be working for the first time with the amazing Eve Myles and Richard Laxton."

George Kay commented: "Inspired by real life research, Gone sees the excellent Eve Myles’s overlooked Detective Annie Cassidy go head-to-head with main suspect Michael Polly, played by the superb David Morrissey. In a story about privilege and prejudice, the truth is tantalisingly close."

The series will broadcast on ITV, STV, and stream on ITVX and STV Player, though no premiere date has been announced.
