Jara and Kast close campaigns with massive rallies in Maipú and Movistar Arena

Officialist candidate Jeannette Jara and Republican leader José Antonio Kast ended their presidential campaigns with simultaneous massive events in the Metropolitan Region, five days before the first electoral round. Jara gathered thousands in Maipú Square with mayors and artists' support, while Kast filled the Movistar Arena with followers and Chile Vamos communal leaders. Both events showcased the territorial strength of their teams amid polls positioning them as main contenders.

In Maipú Square, Jeannette Jara (PC), candidate of Unidad por Chile, drew about 20,000 people according to her team, or 15,000 per Mayor Tomás Vodanovic (FA). The event featured five officialist mayors: Vodanovic, Karina Delfino (Quinta Normal), Matías Toledo (Puente Alto, Ind.), Ítalo Bravo (Pudahuel, Ind.), and Gustavo Toro (San Ramón, Ind.). Bravo warned: “Tell your uncles that if we don't win, gratuidad, women's rights, and PGU are at risk.” Vodanovic, the most cheered, stated: “We will win this election on the streets.”

Jara spoke for 18 minutes, highlighting health reforms, a $750,000 vital income, and lifting banking secrecy to fight organized crime. “We don't want the legitimate fear of many families being assaulted used as a political tool. We will pull the thread where it hurts, on the dirty money route,” she declared. She criticized Kast's use of bulletproof podiums and urged dialogue with undecided voters: “I ask you to talk to those who have doubts, even those who think differently.” The rally included performances by Álvaro Henríquez & Los Pettinellis, Juanito Ayala, and Sonora 5 Estrellas, with Jara's mother joining a “train” dance.

Simultaneously, at Movistar Arena, Kast gathered 14,000 attendees. Buses from metropolitan communes and regions like Valparaíso and O'Higgins filled the venue with flags and chants. Notable was the attendance of Chile Vamos mayors: José Manuel Palacios (UDI, La Reina), Gustavo Alessandri (RN, Zapallar), and Rodrigo Contreras (UDI, Paine), sparking concern in Evelyn Matthei's team. After the national anthem and Viking’s 5 show, Kast attacked Boric's government and Jara, playing on her slogan: “Unemployment is Jara, waiting lists are Jara.” “We're not just talking about winning an election, but recovering a country. Our country that they have tried to destroy,” he emphasized, reinforcing his stance against illegal migration. The event closed with Zúmbale Primo and Américo.

These rallies, days before the electoral blackout, gauged both leaders' mobilization, with Jara betting on unity and social justice, and Kast on national recovery and public order.
