Jennifer Lawrence endorses Hunger Games prequel on podcast

On the Happy Sad Confused podcast with Josh Horowitz, Jennifer Lawrence hinted at recent talks with director Francis Lawrence, responding to skepticism about online rumors with, "Oh yeah, it is out on the Internet, isn't it?" She gave a simple "Yes" when asked if the film is worth seeing.

This builds on the December confirmation of Lawrence (Katniss) and Hutcherson (Peeta) appearing in the adaptation of Suzanne Collins's 2025 novel, which centers on Haymitch Abernathy's 50th Hunger Games story framed by his recount to Katniss and Peeta. Lawrence had previously expressed openness in a 2023 Variety interview: "If Katniss ever could ever come back into my life, [I'd] 100% [make a comeback]." Hutcherson has been eager for more, saying he'd happily reprise Peeta and urging Collins for additional stories.

Directed by Francis Lawrence, the ensemble cast includes Joseph Zada as Haymitch (replacing Woody Harrelson), Jesse Plemons, Elle Fanning, Ralph Fiennes, Mckenna Grace, Glenn Close, Kieran Culkin, and Maya Hawke.
