Juventus eye January transfer for Chelsea's Malo Gusto

Serie A club Juventus are reportedly considering a January move for Chelsea right-back Malo Gusto, according to Italian reports. The 22-year-old Frenchman has been a capable deputy to Reece James but faces an uncertain future amid interest from the Champions League side. Gusto serves as an alternative target if Juventus fail to sign Atletico Madrid's Nahuel Molina.

Malo Gusto joined Chelsea from Lyon in the summer of 2023 and has established himself as a reliable alternative to Reece James at right-back. The France international has made ten appearances across all competitions this season, registering two assists. However, Gusto has endured a challenging start, including a red card in Chelsea's win against Nottingham Forest, which led to a suspension and his absence in the subsequent defeat to Sunderland.

Enzo Maresca, Chelsea's manager, is a clear admirer of the 22-year-old, and Gusto could return to the starting lineup for the upcoming Carabao Cup tie against Wolves. Despite this backing, interest from other clubs is growing; Gusto was previously linked with Bayern Munich during the summer transfer window.

According to Italian outlet Juve FC, Juventus are plotting a winter swoop for Gusto as a backup option to Atletico Madrid's Nahuel Molina. The report does not specify a potential transfer fee or indicate whether Chelsea would entertain offers. Meanwhile, Reece James has returned to form, scoring on his 200th appearance for Chelsea against Nottingham Forest and remaining fit since his January comeback from injury. James's resurgence underscores the competition for places at right-back, even as Chelsea suffered a loss to Sunderland without Gusto.
