Kenya Airways prepares Boeing 777 return with Mombasa flight discounts

Kenya Airways announced a 50 percent discount on selected Nairobi-Mombasa flights in July. The promotion marks the return of the Boeing 777-300ER to passenger service after nearly a decade. The aircraft is scheduled to begin Nairobi-London Heathrow flights on July 17.

Kenya Airways said travellers can book economy seats from KSh6,600 and business class from KSh12,335 on flights between July 13 and July 16. Regular fares start at KSh13,245 and KSh24,585 respectively.

Acting chief executive George Kamal stated in a video message on June 24 that the Nairobi-Mombasa route was chosen first so Kenyans can experience the 400-seat aircraft before it resumes international routes. The plane had been leased to Turkish Airlines since 2016.

The Boeing 777-300ER will replace the Boeing 787-8 on five of seven weekly Nairobi-London Heathrow rotations starting July 17. Kamal described the return as a milestone that strengthens capacity during the peak season.
