Thiruvananthapuram-based Netrasemi has launched A2000, India's first AI system-on-chip. The chip completed laboratory testing and is set for volume production in 2027.
Netrasemi, a fabless semiconductor company founded in 2020, announced the A2000 on May 29, 2026. The chip targets smart surveillance cameras, edge AI boxes and intelligent video gateways. It features an in-house neural processor, vision cores, image signal processor and crypto engines.
The company plans to begin volume production at Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company in 2027. Co-founder and CEO Jyothis Indirabhai said the architecture supports high-performance, real-time edge AI in compact devices.
Netrasemi received ₹15 crore under the Central government's Design Linked Incentive scheme in 2023. It has raised ₹125 crore in funding from investors including ZOHO. The firm is also developing the A4000 edge AI server chip, expected to be fabrication-ready by the second quarter of 2027.
