Kering screens Hamnet and The Testament of Ann Lee at Palm Springs festival

Global luxury group Kering is set to screen the films Hamnet and The Testament of Ann Lee as part of the Palm Springs International Film Festival's Talking Pictures program. The event marks the 10th anniversary of Kering's Women In Motion initiative. Screenings will be followed by Q&As with key cast and crew members.

The Palm Springs International Film Festival has added two notable films to its lineup: Hamnet, directed by Chloé Zhao, and The Testament of Ann Lee, directed by Mona Fastvold. Kering, a global luxury group, will host these screenings on January 3 as part of the Talking Pictures program. This occasion celebrates the 10th anniversary of Women In Motion, an initiative launched by Kering in 2015 at the Cannes Film Festival to honor women in cinema and the arts, both in front of and behind the camera. The program supports emerging talent and promotes dialogue on representation in culture.

Following the screenings, Q&A sessions will feature Zhao and actress Amanda Seyfried for Hamnet, alongside Fastvold for The Testament of Ann Lee. Variety journalist Angelique Jackson will moderate these discussions.

Kering also serves as the presenting sponsor for the Palm Springs International Film Awards, held on the same day. The awards recognize several high-profile figures and projects. Individual honorees include Rose Byrne for Breakthrough Performance, Timothée Chalamet for Spotlight Award in Acting, Leonardo DiCaprio for Desert Palm Achievement Award in Acting, Ethan Hawke for Career Achievement, Kate Hudson for Icon Award in Acting, Michael B. Jordan for Icon Award in Acting, Adam Sandler for Chairman’s Award, and Seyfried for Desert Palm Achievement Award in Acting.

Film-specific awards highlight Frankenstein, receiving the Visionary Award for director Guillermo del Toro and actors Oscar Isaac, Jacob Elordi, and Mia Goth; Hamnet, with the Vanguard Award for Zhao, Jessie Buckley, and Paul Mescal; and Sentimental Value, earning the International Star Award for Renate Reinsve, Stellan Skarsgård, Inga Ibsdotter Lilleaas, and Elle Fanning.

These events underscore ongoing efforts to spotlight women's contributions to film amid a bustling festival schedule.
