Kevin Spacey to face three more sexual assault civil claims in London

Actor Kevin Spacey is set to face three additional civil claims of sexual assault in London's High Court next year. The allegations span from 2000 to 2013, following his acquittal in a 2023 criminal trial. A provisional trial date has been suggested for October 2026.

Background on the Claims

Kevin Spacey, once a prominent figure in Hollywood known for roles in films like The Usual Suspects and the TV series House of Cards, has been embroiled in multiple sexual misconduct allegations since 2017. He was acquitted of nine charges brought by four men in a U.K. criminal trial in July 2023. Despite this, civil lawsuits continue, with three new claims emerging from alleged assaults between 2000 and 2013.

At a hearing in London's High Court on Wednesday, November 26, 2025, a judge suggested a provisional trial date of October 12, 2026. It remains undecided whether the cases will proceed as a single trial or three separate ones. Spacey has denied all allegations and has formally responded to two of the claims in court, though he has not yet filed a defense for the third.

Details of the Accusers

One anonymous claimant, who previously sued in 2022, alleges an assault in August 2008 that caused psychiatric damage and financial loss. The case was paused during Spacey's criminal trial. Another accuser, Ruari Cannon, has waived anonymity and claims Spacey groped him at a 2013 party while Cannon was performing in a play at London's Old Vic theatre, where Spacey served as artistic director from 2004 to 2015. Cannon appeared in the 2024 Channel 4 docuseries Spacey Unmasked.

In response to the docuseries, Spacey stated: “Each time I have been given the time and a proper forum to defend myself, the allegations have failed under scrutiny and I have been exonerated.” A representative for Spacey did not immediately comment on the latest developments.

Previous Legal Outcomes

Spacey was also sued in New York in 2022 by actor Anthony Rapp over a 1986 allegation, but a jury found him not liable. These civil cases highlight ongoing scrutiny of Spacey's conduct during his career peak.
