Jürgen Klopp has confirmed talks with the German Football Association about the national team coach position. The 59-year-old said he is ready for the job but stressed that time and clarifications with Red Bull are still needed.
After Julian Nagelsmann resigned as national team coach, Jürgen Klopp has for the first time confirmed concrete talks with the DFB. Nagelsmann stepped down four days after Germany’s World Cup exit in the round of 16 against Paraguay.
Klopp told MagentaTV: “I am more than recharged now, so I am ready.” When asked what was still missing for a contract signature, he replied with one word: “Time.” He first needs to clarify contract matters with his employer Red Bull.
The 59-year-old explicitly praised Nagelsmann as an exceptional coach. Klopp is currently working as an expert for MagentaTV in the USA and serves as head of global soccer strategy for Red Bull. He has already spoken with his superior Oliver Mintzlaff.
