Libertarians report attacks during councilors' swearing-in in José C. Paz

Militants from La Libertad Avanza reported being attacked by Peronists during the swearing-in of councilors in José C. Paz this Friday. The incidents included punches, shoves, and chair throws, leaving several injured. The party demanded that Governor Axel Kicillof speak out on the events.

Tension erupted in the José C. Paz Deliberative Council during the swearing-in of new councilors, when Libertarian militants chanted '¡Viva la libertad, carajo!', provoking hostile reactions from the local officialism linked to Mayor Mario Ishii. The confrontations quickly escalated to physical aggression, with insults, shoves, punches, and chair throws both inside the chamber and on nearby streets, according to viral videos and La Libertad Avanza's (LLA) statement.

The political force described the episode as a 'cowardly attack organized from the local and provincial officialism'. They detailed serious injuries: a 39-year-old man with a fractured jaw and rib; minors aged 16 and 17 beaten; women aged 17 and 39 assaulted; and a gendarme with a broken nose. Libertarian councilor María Amoroso recounted: 'One had his jaw fractured, another was cornered by men and beaten badly, 50-year-old men in a gang beat one of our 16-year-old militants, another was left covered in blood because eight attacked one'. She added it was 'a cowardly attack to stop our growth and intimidate citizens seeking change in José C. Paz'.

LLA questioned the lack of security from the municipality and province, and pointed directly at Kicillof: 'The governor must speak clearly about what happened' and his silence would amount to endorsing Ishii's violence. They stated 'violence will not intimidate us' and that the events show the end of 'Kirchnerist mafias and privileges'. Amoroso filed the complaint at the prosecutor's office and visited the injured at the clinic, stating: 'If they thought I would back down, they don't know me. La Libertad Avanza, like it or not'. The party demanded swift judicial intervention against those responsible.
