Linkin Park returns to Buenos Aires with Maradona tribute

Linkin Park delivered an electrifying concert at Parque de la Ciudad to over 60,000 fans on October 31, marking their return after seven years with the 'From Zero' era. New vocalist Emily Armstrong paid tribute to Diego Maradona by wearing a 1986 Argentina national team jersey. The show blended classics and new tracks in a night of emotion and reinvention.

The concert started just after nine at night in Parque de la Ciudad, with a countdown on giant screens building anticipation among the crowd. The lights dimmed as Emily Armstrong shouted: “Buenos Aires, Argentina, what do you got?”, met with a deafening chorus from the audience. The show opened with “Lying From You” and moved to “Somewhere I Belong”, mixing classics from albums like Meteora with tracks from the new album From Zero, such as “Up From The Bottom” and “Cut the Bridge”.

Armstrong took the stage wearing a 1986 Argentina national team jersey with number 10 and a curly wig, honoring Maradona on what would have been his 65th birthday. The crowd erupted in applause and chants of “¡Olé, olé, olé, Diego, Diego!”. She smiled and yelled: “Let’s do this!” before singing “Somewhere I Belong”. This cultural gesture deepened the band's connection with Argentine fans.

The lineup featured Mike Shinoda, Phoenix Farrell, Joe Hahn, and Colin Brittain alongside Armstrong, who stepped into the vocalist role after Chester Bennington's departure. During “New Divide”, thousands of phone lights lit up the park, while “The Emptiness Machine” and “One Step Closer” sparked massive mosh pits. An emotional highlight came in “Waiting for the End”, as fans chanted Bennington's name; Shinoda replied: “Holy shit! Incredible energy out there. I hear you!”, followed by a performance of Fort Minor's “Remember the Name”.

The encore with “In the End”, “Faint”, and “Bleed It Out” ended the night in euphoria. The band hugged, held an Argentine flag, and handed out gifts to fans near the barrier. This return, part of the From Zero World Tour 2025, honors the past while embracing the future, bridging generations of followers.
