Formula 1 has confirmed that the 2026 Bahrain Grand Prix will take place at Malaysia's Sepang International Circuit from 2 to 4 October.
The announcement came on 26 July after the original Bahrain event was cancelled due to regional instability from the US-Israeli war on Iran. F1 president and CEO Stefano Domenicali said the sport had adapted to keep the calendar full.
Sky Sports commentator Martin Brundle praised the decision as good lateral thinking. He noted Bahrain's long friendship with the series since 2004 and the importance of maintaining over 20 races for commercial and competitive reasons.
The move creates a triple-header from Baku to Singapore in late September and mid-October. Sepang last hosted a Grand Prix in 2017, when Max Verstappen won ahead of Lewis Hamilton and Daniel Ricciardo.
Ten current drivers have raced at the track. Sebastian Vettel holds the record with four wins there.
