A man in his mid-20s has been remanded in custody suspected of murder after the fatal shooting in Stenebergsparken, Gävle, on October 25. This is not his first murder suspicion; in 2021, he was acquitted of a prior gang-related conviction and awarded 400,000 SEK in damages. The incident occurs amid a conflict situation between criminal groups in the city.
The shooting took place on Saturday, October 25, around 8 p.m. in Stenebergsparken in the Brynäs area of Gävle. People reported loud bangs, and police found one seriously injured person and one dead at the scene. Both victims are linked, according to SVT sources, to the G15 environment, a criminal group in conflict with G10.
Police have described the situation in Gävle as a conflict state. It remains unclear if this shooting is part of the ongoing feud. Several hours after the incident, a man in his mid-20s was arrested and detained; he has now been remanded in custody suspected of the murder. He has long been active in the criminal milieu and was identified in 2021 as a 'springis' for G10, while police in early 2025 assessed him as part of the group's inner core.
The suspect was previously charged, convicted, and then acquitted for another gang-related murder. It involved the killing of a 27-year-old man on Brunnsgatan in Gävle in November 2021. The district court convicted him and a co-suspect despite their denials, but the court of appeal acquitted both, noting no evidence tied them to the scene and that other perpetrators could not be ruled out. He was awarded nearly 400,000 SEK in damages for his time in custody.
According to the man's lawyer, he denies the crimes he is now reasonably suspected of. Prosecutor Jenny Örn dismisses reports of an additional suspect in the current case.
