A man in his mid-20s was shot on Saturday evening in Rinkeby, northwestern Stockholm. He is being treated in hospital with unclear injuries after receiving aid from witnesses and police at the scene. Police are hunting suspects and investigating the incident as attempted murder.
The alarm about the shooting reached police at 21:36 on Saturday evening, October 25, 2025. A man in his mid-20s was hit by gunfire outdoors on Rinkebystråket and was conscious. Witnesses heard the shots and rushed to the scene to help. One resident recounted: "We put him in the recovery position, used a sweater to stop the bleeding, and kept him awake. He was awake and could communicate." They tried to carry him to a car, but police arrived and took over the care.
The man received initial aid from bystanders and then police before the ambulance could reach the site, due to a crowd causing chaos. Daniel Wikdahl, police spokesperson, explained: "A lot of people gathered at the scene, making it challenging to create a good working environment for the ambulance and keep the crime scene intact. It's largely a safety issue." Cordons were set up near the Citizen's Office, where residents waited to access their apartments.
The incident is classified as attempted murder and serious weapons offense. Police are conducting a technical examination, interviewing witnesses, and searching for one or more perpetrators. A police chase is ongoing. Locals describe Rinkeby as calmer now compared to past gang conflicts between the Shottaz and Dödspatrullen networks. One resident said: "It can't be compared. It's completely different now. It's safer." Another called it "sad" and shocking in today's society.
Just one and a half hours earlier, a shooting occurred in Gävle. S leader Magdalena Andersson commented on X: "A dark evening for Sweden," adding that her thoughts are with those affected in both Gävle and Stockholm. "We must do everything required to make Sweden safe."
