Susana Camarero has delivered the Consell WhatsApp group messages from 29 October 2024 to the judge investigating the DANA response. The texts, published in full by elDiario.es, show Carlos Mazón’s early instructions and later updates from his councillors.
The messages run from 8:15 on 29 October 2024 to 23:53. Carlos Mazón asked his councillors to “flood the media with data” to “give the feeling of being on alert that scares you” and to “project an image of control”. He said partial data would be released “all day” and asked for attention to leaks and incidents in schools and health centres. Salomé Pradas reported the activation of level 1 in Ribera Alta and, later, the hydrological alert on the Magro river and Poyo ravine. José Antonio Rovira listed municipalities with classes suspended and, in the evening, announced that Valencia and most towns would cancel classes the following day. Vicente Martínez Mus reported incidents at Ferrocarrils de la Generalitat Valenciana, including the closure of the Picassent-Castelló section and the suspension of metro and tram services. Nuria Montes and Susana Camarero warned of flooded ITV stations and nursing homes. Mazón did not participate in the group after the early morning. Ruth Merino shared a circular exempting affected public employees from work attendance. A brief exchange at the end of the day concerned whether 112 had failed; Pradas clarified that it remained operational, though with only two of eight lines active.
