Microsoft appears to be removing the proprietary expansion port from upcoming Xbox controllers. Reports indicate the port is absent from the new Forza Horizon 6 gamepad and the Elite Controller Series 3. A note on the official store page now states that not all versions include the feature.
Social media posts show the new Forza Horizon 6 controller lacks the connection point, with the space visibly plugged. Leaked images of the Elite Controller Series 3 also omit the port entirely. In April a line was added to the Xbox Wireless Controller store page reading, 'Not all versions of this controller include an expansion port.' The text did not appear in the Internet Archive snapshot from March 31, 2026.
