Compañía Minera Tres Valles accused lawyer Juan Esteban Montero of fabricating crimes in a prior complaint related to the mine's acquisition.
The company, linked to Cevdet Caner's GCR Group holding, filed the criminal complaint before the 4th Guarantee Court in Santiago. It accused Montero, representative of Porto San Giorgio SpA, of false claims about a Thompson & French Finance Group Limited offer of 75 million dollars and a payment of 544 million pesos to former liquidator Tomás Andrews.
Lawyer César Ramos, representing the mining firm, stated the complaint aims to pressure for reversal of a legitimate public auction award. Montero replied that the action is an attempt at cover-up and that the Superintendencia de Insolvencia is already investigating the same facts.
The dispute dates back to the mine's liquidation in 2022, located between Illapel and Salamanca. In April 2026, Superir filed another complaint against Andrews for alleged corruption crimes.
