Kytzia Zamora Gómez, a 15-year-old student at Liceo Carmela Carvajal in Providencia, was found in good health this Saturday after going missing last Wednesday. The teenager has reunited with her family, as confirmed by the Providencia Municipality and the PDI. Mayor Jaime Bellolio thanked the community's collective effort in the search.
Kytzia Zamora Gómez, known among her peers as Francis, went missing on Wednesday, November 19, at 14:30, upon leaving classes at Liceo Carmela Carvajal in Providencia. She sent a last message to her mother, Stephanie Gómez, saying “I'm going home,” but there was no further contact afterward.
The family reported the situation to Carabineros for presumed misfortune, and the school along with the Providencia Municipality requested priority on the case. The municipal security team 1414 searched bridges and nearby areas, spreading information on social media. Additionally, a meeting was arranged with Metro de Santiago to review security camera footage and trace her route.
The school community organized search teams and distributed notices with contact details. Initial inquiries indicated that Kytzia was last seen on Elena Blanco street, five blocks from the school, around 16:00. She was wearing the school tracksuit in navy blue with light blue stripes, a wide green sweatshirt, and carrying her backpack, a banana, and a bag with products she sold to earn income.
Her mother disclosed that the girl's phone was found in a trash bin at the intersection of Miguel Claro and Elena Blanco, thanks to a tracking app.
This Saturday, the teenager was located in good health and is now with her family. Mayor Jaime Bellolio confirmed the news on social media: “I want to thank the entire Providencia community and particularly the Carmela Carvajal community for all the help that has meant over these last three days in searching for Kytzia Zamora, a student in our community who has now been found.”
The Metropolitan Brigade for Person Location (Briup) of the PDI continues investigations to clarify the circumstances of the disappearance.
