More retirees are choosing to withdraw their occupational pensions quickly. At the same time life expectancy is rising which may leave them without funds later.
Four out of ten plan short withdrawal periods according to a study from Jönköping University. This gives higher monthly amounts initially but raises the risk that the pension runs out.

The Swedish Pensions Agency report shows that a 66-year-old in 2025 has a median life expectancy of 90 years for women and 88.5 years for men. SCB and Karolinska Institutet confirm that life expectancy continues to rise.
