MSMEDA implements plan to develop heritage craft clusters

The chief executive of Egypt's Micro, Small and Medium Enterprise Development Agency confirmed an integrated plan to develop clusters for traditional and heritage crafts in cooperation with relevant authorities.

Bassel Rahmy, chief executive of the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprise Development Agency, said the plan seeks to improve the quality and volume of production and create brands for heritage enterprises.

Rahmy explained that this requires stronger marketing support through new sales outlets, domestic distribution contracts and expanded export opportunities.

The efforts fall under the National Strategy for Handicrafts and Heritage Industries launched by Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly.

Rahmy announced that the agency will organise a Turathna exhibition on the North Coast for more than two months to help participants secure export contracts with resorts and hotels.
