National Museum of Korea and Uffizi Galleries sign MOU on collection exchanges

Two prominent museums from Korea and Italy signed a memorandum of understanding Saturday to enhance cooperation in exchanging their collections.

The National Museum of Korea and the Uffizi Galleries signed the memorandum of understanding in Florence during President Lee Jae Myung's visit to the Italian museum. The visit formed part of a special guest protocol as the South Korean president began a state visit to Italy in Rome on Wednesday.

Under the MOU, the two institutions will enhance cooperation in collection exchanges, exhibitions, collection management and restoration, as well as publications. Both sides will also jointly develop programs for planned exchanges.

The signing followed an agreement earlier this week between Lee and Italian President Sergio Mattarella to elevate bilateral relations to a special strategic partnership.
