Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah reviewed preparations for the upcoming Kheer Bhawani Mela. The annual event is scheduled for June 22 at the Mata Kheer Bhawani Shrine in Ganderbal district.
On June 18, Mr. Abdullah visited the shrine to assess arrangements on the ground. He noted concerns raised by priests and directed the administration to resolve them before the Mela begins. Water shortages during the pilgrimage will also be addressed.
The Kheer Bhawani Mela holds central importance for Kashmiri Pandits. It marks the holy day of Zyeshth Ashtami. Officials anticipate higher attendance this year following recent visits by Pandit groups to the Valley.
These tours assessed normalcy and reduced militant violence. One such initiative was led by Dr. Surinder Koul of the Global Kashmiri Pandit Diaspora.
