Baltimore Orioles owner David Rubenstein expressed strong support for president of baseball operations Mike Elias during a Friday press conference at Camden Yards. The event celebrated right-hander Kyle Bradish's five-year, $90 million contract extension. Rubenstein emphasized the team's long-term commitment despite a challenging season.
Rubenstein spoke at the July 24 gathering alongside Bradish and Elias. He described Elias as an outstanding executive and said the organization remains very pleased with his leadership.
The Orioles entered the day with a 50-53 record and sit within reach of a postseason berth ahead of the Aug. 3 trade deadline. Rubenstein and Elias both voiced optimism about reaching the playoffs this year.
Rubenstein also signaled openness to additional long-term contracts for core players. He noted that recent extensions for Bradish, Shane Baz, Samuel Basallo and Pete Alonso reflect the club's resources and ambition to build a championship team.
Bradish said the decision to stay in Baltimore was straightforward because of the established clubhouse culture.
