The PNV, a key government ally, demanded in Congress on Wednesday that Pedro Sánchez present the budgets and, if he fails to secure approval, dissolve parliament and call elections.
PNV spokesperson Maribel Vaquero issued the warning to Sánchez during the control session. “President, present the General State Budgets, it is your obligation. But if you do not reach an agreement in this Chamber, dissolve the Cortes and call elections,” she said.
Sánchez responded by projecting the term until 2027 to complete EU funds and implement the Amnesty Law. He also announced a new decree to protect citizens ahead of the US-Iran ceasefire.
Opposition leader Alberto Núñez Feijóo accused Sánchez of being “a coward” for blocking votes on early elections. Sánchez replied by calling Feijóo a “Torquemada” who protects Ayuso’s corruption.
The PP will take a motion to the Senate demanding elections after Congress vetoed amendments from PP and Junts.
