In the evening, a special operations command (SEK) of the police in Absberg, in the Weißenburg-Gunzenhausen district, attempted to arrest three men aged 23, 24, and 30 for suspected illegal possession of weapons. The suspicions were confirmed by SEK investigations. Initially, only one suspect was apprehended, while the other two fled in a car.
Police pursued the vehicle, and according to authorities, the fugitives fired shots at the SEK officers. No one was hit. The chase extended to Weißenburg, where the getaway car collided with an uninvolved vehicle, rendering it inoperable.
SEK officers then shot at the tires of the fleeing car and arrested the two men. During the operation, three police officers and the two escaped suspects sustained minor injuries, totaling five people affected. An investigation into attempted murder has been launched against the shooters.
