Kenyan police are working with rescue teams to track and stop organized gangs stealing motorcycles near the Uganda border.
On February 17, Noah Simiyu was attacked by two men and one woman at Daraja Guywa in Bungoma County. They stole his motorcycle and fled toward Uganda after injuring him.
Simiyu used the Mogo app to call an emergency team. Police tracked the motorcycle and recovered it hidden near Lwakhakha within two hours.
In another incident on January 26, a motorcycle stolen from Nandi Hills was found in Kisumu. Officials believe it was awaiting transport through Busia to Uganda.
Security officers say the thefts are carried out by organized crime networks spanning western Kenya to the Ethiopia border.
