Prospect Zoe Nowicki eyes UFC contract after LFA debut

Zoe Nowicki will make her LFA debut on Friday night against Mariana Piccolo in a flyweight bout in Ventura, California. The 25-year-old undefeated fighter, with a 3-0 professional record, approaches her career patiently, aiming for a UFC deal by the end of 2026. She credits her coaching for emphasizing longevity over haste.

Zoe Nowicki, a 25-year-old from Michigan, enters her professional MMA career with a strong foundation in wrestling, where she won multiple state championships starting at age 11, and powerlifting. Her transition to MMA began with her first amateur bout in 2022, leading to a 16-0 amateur record, including victories in GAMMA tournaments. She turned professional in 2024 under Invicta FC, going 3-0 while remaining unbeaten overall in 19 MMA bouts at 125 pounds.

Nowicki's LFA debut at LFA 227 pits her against Mariana Piccolo, who holds a 5-3 professional record. Despite Piccolo's experience, Nowicki highlights the unique challenges of her amateur background, such as competing three times in three days. "It’s not easy to fight three times in three days," Nowicki said. "That’s an accolade I’m really proud of."

She attributes her measured pace to her coaches' guidance, drawing from her wrestling journey's slow build. "Why do we have to rush into anything? I’m 25. You see a lot of women fighters, some of them are fighting even in their late 30s," Nowicki told MMA Fighting. "It’s a marathon, not a sprint."

Nowicki plans to stay active in 2026 with LFA, potentially winning a belt, and targets Dana White’s Contender Series in 2027 or a UFC contract by year's end. "I would love to be in the UFC by the end of the year, or have like a Contender Series fight at least booked by the end of the year," she said, adding she takes things one step at a time.
