PU Ministry skips Friday WFH policy for civil servants

Public Works Minister Dody Hanggodo announced that the PU Ministry will not adopt the Friday Work From Home policy for civil servants due to tasks requiring physical presence. The decision stems from the ministry's key role in disaster response across Indonesia.

Jakarta (ANTARA) - Public Works Minister Dody Hanggodo stated during a press conference in Jakarta on Friday that the PU Ministry will not implement Work From Home (WFH) on Fridays for civil servants. "In PU, there is actually no WFH, because besides building infrastructure, we are also part of the main team for disasters, together with BNPB, Basarnas, and BPBD," he said.

The policy applies to all units, both central and regional, due to the need for swift emergency responses. Floods and landslides are currently affecting Sumatra, including Aceh, West Sumatra, and North Sumatra, with fatalities in Deli Serdang. "Yesterday there was a landslide and there were also deaths in Deli Serdang. So it seems we really can't do WFH," Dody added.

Nevertheless, the ministry is following President Prabowo Subianto's directive for effective and efficient operations. Savings efforts include reducing electricity and air conditioning use after hours, and utilizing natural ventilation. "Hopefully with this way, even though we don't WFH, there is still efficiency we can provide to the nation and state," Minister Dody Hanggodo hoped.
