Radiohead have announced a new audiovisual installation titled Motion Picture House: Kid A Mnesia, set to premiere at Coachella this weekend. The 75-minute experience draws from artwork created during the sessions for the band's albums Kid A and Amnesiac. It will then tour to several North American cities.
Radiohead's Motion Picture House: Kid A Mnesia will debut in a 17,000-square-foot underground bunker with 38-foot ceilings beneath the Empire Polo Fields at Coachella, starting April 10. The installation features large-format visuals assembled from sketches, paintings, collages, audio recordings, and handwritten notes by frontman Thom Yorke and designer Stanley Donwood. Music from the band's 2000 album Kid A and 2001 album Amnesiac has been remixed for a custom six-point surround sound system. Yorke described the narrative as one in which 'a monster is trapped in a derelict museum of the lost and forgotten.' The experience lasts 75 minutes, with visitors able to book two-hour slots that include time to explore an accompanying gallery. After Coachella, it will run in Brooklyn from May 6 to 31 at the Agger Fish Building, Chicago from July 30 to August 23 at Cinespace Studio, Mexico City from October 27 to November 15 at La Maravilla Studios, and San Francisco from January 14 to February 7, 2027, at the Palace of Fine Arts. Pre-registration for tickets opens at 11:59 p.m. PT on April 12, with pre-sale on April 22 and general sale at 10 a.m. on April 24. The project ties back to Radiohead's 2021 reissue Kid A Mnesia, which included unearthed material from the original sessions. Guitarist Ed O’Brien recently confirmed touring plans for the band starting in 2027, with 20 shows per continent annually.
