President William Ruto introduced new UDA leaders in Ukambani during a State House meeting on Friday to bolster the party ahead of the 2027 general election.
During the meeting, President Ruto named former State House Chief of Staff Nzioka Waita and Prof Phillip Kaloki as leaders tasked with strengthening UDA in Ukambani. He announced Prof Kaloki as the UDA candidate for Makueni governor and Dr Andrew Mulwa as the candidate for senator.
President Ruto said the government will field candidates in all positions across the country. He urged Ukambani residents to support him next year.
The political contest has intensified over roughly two million votes in the region.
