SENAPRED activates SAE alerts for rising streams in Valparaíso

The National Service for Disaster Prevention and Response activated preventive alerts on July 17, 2026, due to rising streams in the Valparaíso region from the frontal system.

SENAPRED issued an SAE alert for the rising flow of the Marga Marga stream in Viña del Mar. Mayor Macarena Ripamonti urged residents not to approach the stream and clarified that the measure is preventive.

Ripamonti stated that bridge closures would depend on technical reports from the Dirección de Obras Hidráulicas. “The bridges have not been closed yet,” she specified.

In Quilpué, SENAPRED ordered the preventive evacuation of the sectors Ribera Belloto Norte, Infante and El Sol due to overflow of the Quilpué stream. Presidential delegate Manuel Millones warned that rivers and streams are at their limit.
