Seth Rollins has discussed his decision to end The Shield in 2014 during an interview ahead of his SummerSlam 2026 match against Roman Reigns.
Rollins told WWE’s Jackie Redmond that the short answer to whether he made the right call by attacking Reigns with a chair is yes, though the choice was complicated. He noted that the split allowed both wrestlers to evolve into distinct characters, including Reigns becoming the Head of the Table and himself as The Visionary.
The former Shield member said he thinks about the moment often and has had regrets over the years, including during difficult periods for himself, Reigns and WWE. Despite that, Rollins concluded that the chair shot shaped their paths in a positive way.
Jon Moxley, the third member of The Shield, left WWE in 2019 and has competed in All Elite Wrestling since then. The interview took place ahead of the scheduled SummerSlam 2026 Night Two main event between Rollins and Reigns.
