French showjumper Simon Delestre had surgery on Monday for injuries sustained in a fall at the Cannes LGCT Grand Prix.
Simon Delestre fell while riding Gatsby Du Tillard in the five-star Grand Prix on Saturday, 6 June. Doctors diagnosed a dislocated collarbone, ligament damage and head bruising.
The rider, who has competed at three Olympics, underwent the procedure on Monday. He said it stabilised his shoulder and checked for further damage.
Delestre must keep his left arm immobile for several weeks. He noted that his horse escaped unharmed and thanked supporters for their messages during recovery.
