Söder veto leaves minijob reform open

CSU leader Markus Söder has vetoed the planned abolition of minijobs. The reform recommended by the pension commission is no longer considered settled. SPD politician Armin Willingmann calls for exceptions for students.

The coalition wanted to convert minijobs largely into jobs subject to social insurance contributions. This was part of the recommendations of the pension commission, which the chancellor and labor minister wanted to implement.

CSU leader Markus Söder opposed it, leaving the situation open again. Many sectors welcome the veto.

Armin Willingmann, SPD top candidate from Saxony-Anhalt, supports the proposal in principle. However, the current rules must remain for students, he told the Funke Mediengruppe newspapers.
