Eli Heidenreich said the Pittsburgh Steelers stood out during the pre-draft process by involving both running back and wide receiver coaches in his interview.
Heidenreich noted that most teams focused on one position for him. The Steelers, however, kept both options open, leaving him uncertain about their plans.
Steelers head coach Mike McCarthy described the player as a no-position athlete who can line up in the slot, from the backfield or displaced. Heidenreich has since been assigned to the running back room.
In his final season at Navy, Heidenreich posted 941 receiving yards and six touchdowns. He expressed eagerness to reach training camp in Latrobe and compete for a roster spot alongside players such as Jaylen Warren and Kaleb Johnson.
