Storm causes tree falls and hail in DF on night of December 1

Heavy rains hit the Federal District on the night of December 1, felling at least eight trees and causing hail in some areas. No one was injured, but vehicles were damaged and a road was closed. Inmet maintains a yellow alert for intense rains until the morning of December 2.

The heavy rains that hit the Federal District on the night of Monday, December 1, caused damage to vehicles and public structures. At least eight trees fell in different points of the region, with the Federal Senate area being the most affected: seven trees toppled around 19:40 in front of the Interlegis building, an internal organ of the House, near N2. The fall hit part of the external structure, but no one was injured, though cars were damaged.

Minutes later, in the Setor de Autarquias Sul in the Plano Piloto, the Military Firefighters attended an incident where a tree fell on a white VW Up. The driver was conscious and uninjured. The road was closed for tree removal, with Police Military support, ensuring safety during the operation. Teams continue monitoring risk areas due to saturated soil and strong winds.

Residents of Vila Planalto recorded hail falling on the roof of a parked vehicle, in a video obtained by Metropoles. The National Meteorology Institute (Inmet) issued a yellow alert since November 30, active until the morning of December 2, forecasting rains of 20 to 30 mm/h or up to 50 mm/day, winds up to 60 km/h, plus risks of power cuts, falling branches, flooding, and lightning strikes.

Three Inmet stations — Águas Emendadas, Brasília, and Brazlândia — exceeded the forecasted November rainfall (253.1 mm), recording 255.8 mm, 276.2 mm, and 273.2 mm, respectively.
