Submarine S-82 Narciso Monturiol starts sea trials in Cartagena

The submarine S-82 'Narciso Monturiol' completed its first surface navigation on Thursday in waters off Cartagena. Navantia described the step as very important for delivery to the Spanish Navy by the end of the year.

The vessel made its run using its own propulsion systems. Various checks on the ship's equipment were carried out during the outing.

This is the second prototype in the S-80 Plus series developed by Navantia. The first, the submarine Isaac Peral S-81, measures 80.91 meters in length and made its first surface sea outing on May 27, 2021.

Navantia noted that the start of the sea trials brings the delivery of the S-82 to the Navy closer by the end of this year.
