Sweden defeats Croatia 3-0 to reach quarterfinals

After beating Hungary in the round of 16, Sweden's table tennis team defeated Croatia 3-0 at the World Team Championships and advanced to the quarterfinals against Taiwan.

Anton Källberg won easily against Tomislav Pucar while Truls Möregårdh advanced after a tough five-set match against Andrej Gacina. Möregårdh led but fell back to 2–2 before closing it out 11–5 in the fifth set.

Elias Ranefur, 29, secured the third victory with a 3–0 win over Filip Zeljko. Ranefur said the success builds on many years of training where he has gone his own way.

“It was a nice win,” Truls Möregårdh told SVT. He also mentioned that his shoulder hurt but that he played for Sweden’s sake.

The quarterfinal awaits Taiwan featuring left-handed world number seven Lin Yun-Ju. Sweden had earlier advanced from the round of 16 with a 3-0 win over Hungary, where Kristian Karlsson suffered a groin injury.
