PT Toyota-Astra Motor (TAM) started the Veloz Hybrid EV Lintas Nusa 2025 expedition from Sirkuit Mandalika, Nusa Tenggara Barat, on Wednesday (2/12). The journey involves one New Veloz Hybrid EV unit driven relay-style by journalists from 11 national media to western Indonesia over more than one month. The expedition aims to test the hybrid car's durability in diverse real-world terrains.
This expedition differs from typical product launches as it resembles a real-world durability test. The car will traverse a long route including coastal paths, mountains, urban areas, and rural regions to demonstrate Toyota's hybrid technology in diverse terrains common in Indonesia.
TAM Marketing Director Jap Ernando Demily stated, “The Veloz Hybrid EV Lintas Nusa 2025 journey is our appreciation to Indonesian families who have trusted Toyota as a mobility solution.” He emphasized that extreme terrains across regions differentiate road tests from circuit evaluations. The expedition also proves the quality, durability, and reliability (QDR) of the New Veloz Hybrid EV.
“This is the embodiment of our commitment that Toyota Is There For Indonesia, bringing practical, inclusive, and beneficial electrification technology to the remotest parts of the country,” Demily asserted during the flag-off at Sirkuit Mandalika.
The New Veloz Hybrid EV made its global debut at GAIKINDO Jakarta Auto Week (GJAW) 2025 as a domestically produced hybrid MPV targeting the family segment. Its latest hybrid technology offers smoother and more efficient driving, especially for long-distance trips with stop-and-go conditions.
The route covers Lombok, Bali, Banyuwangi, Bromo area, Yogyakarta, Bandung, and Jakarta, then to Sumatra via Palembang, Jambi, Bukittinggi, to Danau Toba. The group will interact with local communities, visit tourist spots, and greet Toyota user communities like Velozity, established since 2012. They are scheduled to stop at official Toyota dealer networks, totaling 363 outlets across Indonesia.
TAM Marketing Director Hiroyuki Oide added, “We want every transformation undergone by Toyota products to positively impact society and the environment. Through Veloz Hybrid EV Lintas Nusa 2025, they can see for themselves the reliability of Toyota's Hybrid EV when passing various road conditions from Mandalika to western Indonesia.” He hopes the model will drive electrification adoption in Indonesia as a local product supporting the economy.
TAM has a track record of similar expeditions, such as Kijang Lintas Nusa 1995 and Avanzanation Journey 2014, used to monitor performance and public response.
