Tesla has introduced monthly subscriptions for its Full Self-Driving (Supervised) feature in Australia and New Zealand, allowing owners to access the advanced driver-assistance system through the Tesla app. This move aims to increase adoption of the technology in the region. Subscriptions start at $149 AUD per month.
Tesla officially launched monthly subscriptions for Full Self-Driving (Supervised), or FSD (Supervised), in Australia and New Zealand on October 18, 2025, as announced by Tesla Australia & New Zealand on X. Owners can subscribe directly via the Tesla app by navigating to Upgrades > Software Upgrades > Subscribe. The company stated, “You can do it from the Tesla App.”
Pricing varies by country and existing autopilot features. In Australia, vehicles with Basic Autopilot cost $149 AUD per month, while those with Enhanced Autopilot require an upgrade fee of $75 AUD monthly. In New Zealand, the figures are $159 NZD for Basic Autopilot and $80 NZD for Enhanced Autopilot upgrades. For a one-time purchase, FSD (Supervised) is available for $10,100 AUD in Australia and $11,400 NZD in New Zealand.
This subscription rollout follows Tesla's efforts to boost FSD adoption. Earlier in the week, the company offered discounts of up to nearly $5,000 AUD on Model 3 and Model Y inventory vehicles equipped with FSD (Supervised). The feature's public rollout began in mid-September 2025, after a soft media launch in August that highlighted its performance on city streets, roundabouts, and rural roads. It is available on Model 3 and Model Y vehicles with Hardware 4 (HW4 or AI4) through over-the-air updates.
Tesla recently introduced FSD (Supervised) version 14, which includes major improvements and new features like Arrival Options. Within less than two weeks of launch, Australian and New Zealand owners collectively logged over 1 million kilometres using the system, according to company data. The monthly option provides a lower-commitment entry point to experience Tesla's autonomous driving technology.
