A 29-year-old Dallas man is accused of fatally stabbing his father at an East Dallas apartment on Wednesday morning. Adrian Mendoza allegedly confessed to the killing shortly after the attack.
Adrian Mendoza stands charged with murder in the death of Samuel Mendoza. Police said the incident took place just after 7 a.m. on Wednesday at an apartment on Peavy Road.
Officers responded after Mendoza called 911. They found Samuel Mendoza on an air mattress with multiple stab wounds to the head and neck. A large combat-style knife with apparent blood on it was recovered at the scene.
During an interview, Adrian Mendoza told detectives he stabbed his father at least four times while the man slept. He claimed he believed his father was harming children but provided no evidence, police said. He also stated he was following lessons from Duolingo instead of contacting authorities.
Mendoza remains in Dallas County Jail on a $250,000 bond.
