Nag-anunsyo ang data forensics company na The Nerve ng paglunsad ng Information Integrity Initiative upang labanan ang disinformation at protektahan ang integridad ng impormasyon. Sa Manila, Philippines, naglunsad ang The Nerve, isang data forensics company na co-founded ng Nobel Peace Prize winner at Rappler CEO na si Maria Ressa, ng Information Integrity Initiative (III). Ang proyekto na ito ay nakatuon sa action-oriented research, policy work, at product development sa intersection ng disinformation, freedom of expression, gender, at public interest media.
Si Professor Julie Posetti, na dating nagsilbi sa Reuters Institute for the Study of Journalism at kasalukuyang chair ng Centre for Journalism and Democracy sa City St. George’s, University of London, ang magliliid ng inisyatiba. Mayroong higit 20 taon na karanasan si Posetti sa international journalism at aktibo sa pag-aaral ng mga banta sa investigative journalism sa digital age. Ang unang major release ng III, na pinamagatang “Tipping Point: The chilling escalation of violence against women in the public sphere,” ay naglalahad ng alarming statistics: 70% ng surveyed women ang nakaranas ng online violence sa kanilang trabaho, habang 41% ang nagsabi ng offline harm na nauugnay dito. Ang bilang ng mga journalist at media workers na nakararanas nito ay dumoble mula 20% noong 2020 hanggang 42% noong 2025.
Si Posetti at The Nerve ay nag-collaborate na dati sa big data investigations, kabilang ang pagsusuri sa online violence laban kay Maria Ressa at sa mga targeted attacks sa women journalists sa Daily Maverick ng South Africa.
