Northern Arizona University's track and field team celebrated three Big Sky Athlete of the Week awards after strong showings at the Lumberjack Team Challenge. Tor Hotung-Davidsen, Desmond Lott, and Hayley Burns impressed with nationally ranked performances in the mile and weight throw, held at high altitude in Flagstaff. These honors highlight the Lumberjacks' momentum in the indoor season.

In Flagstaff, Arizona, during January 2026, the Northern Arizona University track and field program achieved a notable milestone at the Lumberjack Team Challenge. The event, conducted inside the Walkup Skydome at approximately 7,000 feet elevation, showcased exceptional talent from the Lumberjacks, leading to conference recognition for three athletes.

Tor Hotung-Davidsen, a senior, secured the Men's Track Athlete of the Week title with a mile victory in 4:02.31. This time, adjusted for sea level, equates to 3:53.51, ranking first in the Big Sky Conference and second nationally among Division I competitors. His performance stands as one of the top mile efforts in the NCAA this season.

Desmond Lott, also a senior, earned Men's Field Athlete of the Week honors for his weight throw of 21.20 meters (69 feet, 6.75 inches). This mark leads the Big Sky and places 21st nationally, bolstering the Lumberjacks' throws contingent during the home meet.

On the women's side, junior Hayley Burns claimed Women's Track Athlete of the Week after winning the mile in 4:35.77 at altitude, converting to 4:25.76 at sea level. This result tops the Big Sky and national rankings, while setting a new personal best for Burns.

These awards underscore Northern Arizona's competitive edge as they advance through the indoor season, preparing for upcoming conference meets. The high-altitude venue added challenge to the performances, yet the athletes delivered results with broad implications for their national standings.
