England manager Thomas Tuchel has told Jude Bellingham his place in the starting lineup for this summer's World Cup is not guaranteed.
Tuchel said the Real Madrid midfielder remains one of 14 or 15 players capable of starting matches. He confirmed Bellingham faces increased competition for places. Yes, he does, Tuchel replied when asked if Bellingham must battle for a regular starting role. He is one of the starters and he knows that, but we have 14 or 15 players who could all start. Bellingham started every match at Euro 2024 but has featured less often under Tuchel, who took charge in January 2025. The 22-year-old has started only four matches and appeared three times from the bench. Injuries have also limited his involvement. Tuchel praised Bellingham's performance after he came off the bench in England's 1-0 friendly win over New Zealand. The manager noted the player's determination and fresh condition following his return from injury.
