The University of Hartford men's and women's indoor track and field teams concluded their season at the Tufts Final Qualifier in Medford, Massachusetts, on Saturday. Several athletes achieved notable placements in various events as they await potential NCAA national qualifications. Wesleyan University competitors also performed strongly in the meet.
On Saturday, the University of Hartford women's indoor track and field team competed at the Tufts Final Qualifier in Medford, Massachusetts, marking the end of their indoor season. Senior Madison DiPasquale from Wallingford, Connecticut, finished third in the shot put with a distance of 12.39 meters. Senior Destinee Majett from Brick Township, New Jersey, placed seventh in the weight throw at 15.32 meters. Junior Leslie Samuel from Montauk, New York, took eighth in the long jump with 5.07 meters.
The men's team from Hartford also participated in the same event. Graduate student Kaden Leonard from Webster, New York, led the Hawks by finishing third in the 60-meter dash in 7.00 seconds. Sophomore Tom Barriger from Wallingford, Connecticut, placed seventh in the shot put at 12.49 meters.
Wesleyan University's men's team used the meet to prepare for the upcoming Division III Championships. Steve Paul placed third in the 200-meter dash with a time of 21.96 seconds. The distance medley relay team, consisting of Alex Kermath (class of 2026), Reese Connors (class of 2029), August Doetsch (class of 2029), and Liam Calhoun (class of 2026), finished 16th in 10:11.10.
On the women's side for Wesleyan, Juliette Sullivan from the class of 2027 earned fourth place in the 200-meter dash with a time of 25.14 seconds, continuing her strong sprint performances throughout the season.
The Worcester Polytechnic Institute men's team also competed at the Tufts Last Chance National Qualifying meet, making a final push for NCAA Championship marks, though specific results were not detailed. Both Hartford teams now await announcements on NCAA Nationals qualifications.
